Newstead Abbey is now closed to the public every day except Sundays. Despite all the efforts of various individuals and groups. You can book tours privately, but if you just turn up on a Saturday for example, it's shut.

You can still visit the gardens, but you can't go in the house.

On a happier note the International Byron Festival is on from 3rd June to 12th June at Hucknall, Notts UK
I will be giving the talk 'Lord Byron -The First Rockstar' on Saturday 4th June at 4pm at The Red Lion pub. FREE entry.
There are other events during the day - Byron collecting the rent (actor playing Byron) 2pm and Morris Dancing in the afternoon as well.
