There must be thousands of Byron fans, but who are as dedicated as Elizabeth and William, (I hesitate to include myself just yet), to keep these forums going? Well done to those who do. I can t believe it took me so long to find you guys - its great to have somewhere to post ideas. Mary

Hi I was surprised there weren t more messages on this site. Do people know that there is a public Byron lecture at the University of Nottingham every academic year (can be anytime of year), which is completely free, with food and drink provided! It s quite an interesting evening out!

Yes, I am a bit confused about that as well- I know there are many Byronists out there- but I cannot get them to respond. I ve a Yahoo group with so many resources which I would think a Byronist would be thrilled to have access to at their fingertips. And I haven t even scanned what I have at home yet. We began in Jaunary and have publicized it high and low, but I still only have 27 members. And of those members, only 11 joined the Annex Library to gain access to our additional files. I tend to do heavy posting at my group, but I will try to post more in this forum. At The Byronists forum, we have very few postings as well- and sometimes I feel like I am talking to myself in there-- This seems a curious phenomenon as well: I have met self-proclaimed utterly obsessed Byronists who say they have lived and breathed Byron for fifteen years or more, and yet are clueless as to some of the most basic biographical information, are suckers for the myth, have never heard of Leslie Marchand, etc. My curiosity is itching to know just what they have been reading for those 15+ years. I am far from being an expert, but then again- I never claim to be. Perhaps the thousands of Byronists out there are just such people and have not bothered to find this site yet. Just a suggestion, Mr Robinson- for I know you read these- could we have a cookie to paste into our blogging tools, other sites, etc- to link people with the International Byron Society website? Might help us to get more hits here. --lazarusoutcast

Hi I clicked on your link to The Byronists Group but it came up "There are no groups known as The Byronists". Am I doing something wrong? I d love to see your resources. I work at the University of Nottingham, so can let people know about lectures etc. I don t know much about the resources available, but I love to read of Byron s life and like to get out there and see where he travelled to etc. We spend most of our weekends at Newstead Abbey, and contribute to its renovation whenever and wherever possible.

Sorry about that- I believe it was the period at the end which set it off. We ll try that again: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thebyronists/ If that doesn t work, you can click on my button for "www" at the bottom of my postings. Deb and Andy, you wouldn t happen to be a couple from Nottingham, married at Newstead, and half of you once a member of a band akin to Oasis, would you? Curious if you were a couple from Nottingham I met at one of the annual Byron Birthday Dinners. --lazarusoutcast

Hi andy and deb. Just thought I would say hello. I have found your posts very interesting. Especially the one about living the Byron spirit aka partying! Whenever I think of Byron like that I am reminded of his poem (probably written after a severe hangover) So we ll go no more a roving . Written in a letter to Thomas Moore, it appears wondefully effortless and is probably one of the most beautiful lyrics ever written. Mary

Hi Mary I like that poem best of all too! We ve always been fans of Byron, and although it s not very intellectual of us to watch the films about Byron, we love them! They introduced us to Claret drinking, and ghost stories!! Live life for the moment!
