I know Byron knew Madame de Stael, but I was wondering, does anyone know if he ever read De l'Allemagne?

Hi back Leena :D

As far as I know from my bios Byron became a friend and an appreciator of Mme de Stael and he quite surely read all her works. He also wrote about her in his letters (though I haven't read them all yet),I should check them back.

Yes, I know he refers to her as a friend in his letters, but there is this one hilarious letter where he tells this swiss girl that he's only ever met one from her country --- "Me. de Stael --- and she is frightful as a precipice".
So he hopes that this girl, though she writes like a clever woman, looks as unlike one as possible! :D
